The Centre Launches Child Labour Risk Index for CRIB Working Group Members

The Centre for Child Rights and Business has launched the Child Labour Risk Index (CLRI) — a new, evidence-based tool designed to help companies identify and prioritise child labour risks across global supply chains.

Available exclusively to CRIB Working Group members, the CLRI combines global datasets with on-the-ground supply chain insights to support targeted, risk-based human rights due diligence. It enables companies to quickly screen sourcing countries, focus efforts where risks are highest, and take practical action to address root causes.

The tool currently includes profiles for 10 key sourcing countries, with new profiles being added monthly.

From risk insights to action

The CLRI supports the first step of HRDD: identifying and prioritising risk. Each country profile provides:

  • A clear overview of child labour risk drivers

  • Guidance on where due diligence is most needed

  • Practical actions, resources, and relevant initiatives

Built on 34 indicators across areas such as education, poverty, governance, labour markets and youth vulnerability, the Index reflects both structural risks and real supply chain conditions.

About the CRIB Working Group

The CLRI is part of The Centre’s broader work with the CRIB Working Group. CRIB Working Group meetings provide a confidential space for brands and retailers to identify shared challenges, exchange resources and experiences and implement best practices for children, young workers and working parents in the supply chain. The Working Group currently has close to 50 members comprised of global brands and retailers.
